Celebrate International Women's Day at Jeunesse

Mar 8, 2016

Pledge for Parity this Month!

Are you doing anything this week to celebrate International Women’s Day? Maybe you could have coffee with your team, share inspiring messages about women on social media, or read a book that focuses on women’s issues, such as I am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban, by Malala Yousafzai.

First celebrated in the United States in 1909, Women’s Day is celebrated every March 8 across the world. Today isn’t the only day to celebrate; the entire month of March is devoted to empowering women and is set aside as a time to assess the progress of equal rights. It is a day to celebrate the achievements of women and call for changes when inequality prevents women and girls from achieving their dreams. This year’s theme is “Pledge for Parity,” and that’s something Jeunesse takes very seriously.

Once called International Working Women’s Day, the focus of this annual holiday has been expanded to include all women and the contributions they offer to society, whether paid or unpaid. Recent attention in the media has focused on the cost of the unpaid labor (including household chores, childcare and elder care) that women contribute to the world at large.

Melinda Gates devoted her 2015 philanthropic letter to the disparity in the division of chores between men and women. Gates wrote in this letter, “Unless things change, girls today will spend hundreds of thousands more hours than boys doing unpaid work simply because society assumes it’s their responsibility.” Men spend less than half the amount of time doing unpaid chores than women do in the U.S., and in some countries the disparity is double or even triple that amount. This creates a burden on society and has a significant negative impact on the global economy.

The Jeunesse business opportunity has a global appeal to women, thanks to premium products designed for women, the flexible schedule of being a Distributor, leadership training and mentoring from top female earners, and the unlimited opportunity for advancement at Jeunesse. In a world where less than one in 10 executive board members are women, and the gender pay gap is shameful, Jeunesse stands out for its gender equality. There’s no glass ceiling here; women have an equal opportunity at Jeunesse.

Jeunesse co-founder Wendy Lewis believes firmly in the empowerment of women. Twice named one of the most influential women in Direct Selling and awarded with Woman of the Year by the Stevies®, Wendy Lewis is an inspiration to thousands of women who are looking for a way to make a difference in the world.

All across the globe, Jeunesse celebrates women and the notable contributions women make in business, in politics and in society. Part of our mission at Jeunesse is “empowering each other to unleash our potential.” The scores of successful women who are making a difference as Jeunesse Distributors prove the efficacy of this mission. Jeunesse invites women all over the globe to join the community of entrepreneurial-minded women who are building successful futures. We invite you to join our Women’s Empowerment Call which takes place the first Friday of every month at 12:00 p.m. ET. To join, call +1-712-432-7556 (USA) and enter code 125056#.
